The Cabo 100 / How We Choose
How We Choose
One hundred places, ten categories, renewed every year. Here is how a name earns its place on The Cabo 100, and how it loses it.
The Cabo 100 is a list, not a directory. Los Cabos has thousands of restaurants, hotels, tours and shops. This is the hundred we would send a friend to without hesitation, ten in each of ten categories, ranked.
The four standards
I. Excellence, consistently
One great night is not enough. We look for places that deliver at the same level on a quiet Tuesday in September as on a sold-out Saturday in March.
II. Service that remembers you
Luxury is the detail that separates the memorable from the merely expensive: the name remembered, the table held, the problem solved before you noticed it.
III. Unmistakably Cabo
Every place on the list should give you something you could not find anywhere else: the desert meeting the sea, Baja ingredients, the people who make this place what it is.
IV. Independent, always
No one can pay to be on The Cabo 100, and no one can pay to move up it. Where we work with a business as a partner, that is always clearly marked and never affects the ranking.
What we look at
We weigh first-hand experience from people who live in Los Cabos alongside recognised standards such as the Michelin Guide, Forbes Travel Guide, AAA and Golf Digest. Recognition helps, but it does not decide. Some of the best places here have never chased an award.
Renewed every year
The list is reviewed in full every year. New openings earn their way in, and places that slip lose their spot. Newcomers we are watching but not yet ready to rank go on Ones to Watch.
