Chileno Bay Golf Club
Private Tom Fazio 18 with sea views throughout; Chileno Bay resort guests can book through the concierge.
Chileno Bay Golf Club is Tom Fazio’s championship course on the Tourist Corridor, an 18-hole, par-72 layout of nearly 7,300 yards set just above Playa Chileno. It is a private, members-only club, operated by Chileno Bay Club, and it is one of the most quietly admired rounds in Los Cabos.
The setting is the draw. The course is framed by desert, the Sierra de la Laguna mountains and the Sea of Cortez, and the sea is in view from every hole. Deep arroyos cut through the property, saguaro cacti stand along the fairways and the land falls toward rugged seaside cliffs. In the winter months, players often spot whales offshore between shots.
It belongs on this list for the way Fazio let the terrain lead. Holes such as the par-3 eighth, with sea grasses softening its bunkers, and the par-5 twelfth, with a deep arroyo running the full length of its left side, show a course that rewards thought and precision rather than brute length.
What to expect
Expect a polished, private-club round with few other groups on the course and long views over the water. The routing moves between desert ground and higher holes that open up to the sea, so the scenery keeps changing. Auberge’s Chileno Bay Resort & Residences sits next door, and the resort arranges tee times for its guests through its concierge team, which makes this one of the few ways for visitors to experience the course.
