Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club
27 holes by Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman, with a seaside Ocean nine and big elevation changes.
Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club offers something rare in Los Cabos: two of the game’s great names on one property. Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman both designed holes here, and the club now plays as 27 championship holes made up of three nines, the Ocean, VISTA and Mission courses, each a par 36. The resort community lies just beyond San José del Cabo, on the way toward the East Cape.
The club has grown in stages. The original nine opened in 2007, and a new Nicklaus nine followed, opening to members in late 2017 and to resort play in April 2018, alongside a new clubhouse. With three nines, golfers can choose between three different 18-hole combinations.
It earns its place here for variety. Few clubs in the destination offer such a range of settings in one round: shoreline holes, links-style dune holes and steep hillside golf with big views over San José del Cabo and the Sea of Cortez.
What to expect
On the Nicklaus-designed Ocean course, the fifth and sixth holes are cut into the shoreline. The VISTA opens with a links-style hole among the dunes before climbing to higher ground from the sixth, while the Mission course covers more than 400 feet of elevation change and builds to a memorable seventh. Off the course there is a clubhouse with restaurant and bar, a members’ lounge, all-inclusive palapas on the course, a golf shop and space for groups and events.
