Las Ventanas al Paraíso sets the standard in Los Cabos because it has done the same things exceptionally well for nearly three decades: butler service in every suite, a deeply Mexican sense of place, food and drink worth staying in for, and a team large enough to make every stay feel personal. This year it climbed to 25th on The World’s 50 Best Hotels, topped La Liste’s World’s Best Hotels ranking and, in September, retained its Two Michelin Keys in the 2027 hotel selection.
It is the resort other Cabo properties are measured against, and a cornerstone of our Stay category. Here is why, and how to get the most from a stay.
A record few resorts can match
Recognition is not the reason a place makes The Cabo 100, but at Las Ventanas it reflects something real: consistency. The resort holds Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star status and the AAA Five Diamond designation, and it has held Two Michelin Keys since the guide’s first selection of Mexican hotels.
Its rise on The World’s 50 Best Hotels tells the same story. After debuting 44th in 2025, it rose 19 places to 25th on the 2026 list, unveiled in Paris in September, and took the Highest Climber Award. In July 2027 the resort marks its 30th anniversary.
Where it sits and how it feels
Las Ventanas sits at Km 19.5 on the Tourist Corridor, about 20 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport and closer to San José del Cabo than to Cabo San Lucas. The architecture is Mediterranean-Mexican: whitewashed buildings, stone paths, bougainvillea spilling from rooftops and a serpentine chain of pools, eight in all, winding towards the Sea of Cortez.
There are 84 suites and villas, from 960 to 28,000 square feet, plus 30 Rosewood Residences. Original works by Mexican artists and handmade details run throughout. Junior suites have adobe fireplaces and open onto private patios or rooftop terraces.
Which suite to ask for: a rooftop-terrace suite, and specifically one with a telescope. The desert sky over the Corridor is dark enough for serious stargazing, and the terrace becomes the best seat in the house after dinner. Families should look at the larger suites and villas, which add space without leaving the resort’s quieter rhythm.
Service as the signature
Butler service is included in every suite, and it is the clearest expression of what our second standard, service that remembers you, looks like in practice. A team of around 700 associates supports the resort, which allows the kind of attention that cannot be faked.
Arrival begins before you reach the lobby, with private airport transfers available. Use the butler before you land: share dinner plans, preferred pillows, a birthday or the bottle you want waiting, and the stay will be shaped around them. Days are yours to design, from sunrise yoga to horseback rides along the beach, tennis and the Corridor’s golf.
Food and drink worth staying in for
Las Ventanas runs several restaurants and bars, and three of them are on The Cabo 100 in their own right.
- Árbol serves Indian and pan-Asian cooking with Baja seafood under lantern-lit branches. It is recommended in the Michelin Guide, and its Punjabi fish masala is the dish inspectors single out.
- Sea Grill cooks seafood over wood-burning grills beside the ocean, and the Tequila & Ceviche Bar pours 100 percent agave tequilas.
- La Botica, a speakeasy dressed as a 1920s apothecary, builds each cocktail around a short conversation with the guest. Go late and sit at the bar.
- La Cava, the wine cellar of around 2,400 bottles, hosts private dinners for a single party, which makes it the resort’s best room for a proposal or a milestone.
That depth, a hotel whose bars and restaurants compete on their own merits, is a large part of what sets it apart. Book Árbol and La Cava when you book the suite.
The spa
The Spa at Las Ventanas organises its menu around the four elements and draws on the traditions of Baja’s healers. It offers four detached cabinas, each with its own succulent garden and jetted tub, and three self-contained spa suites with a private infrared sauna, an infinity-edge whirlpool and a wellness agenda managed by a dedicated butler. The signature treatment to know is the synchronised four-hands mezcal massage.
For couples, the spa suites are the move: a half day in complete privacy, without crossing paths with another guest.
The villas and the Ty Warner Mansion
At the top end sits the Ty Warner Mansion, a 28,000-square-foot oceanfront villa with a 328-foot infinity pool, a rooftop terrace and a personal team of seven that includes a private chef and two butlers. It is the extreme example of a broader truth: the resort scales its service to the guest, whether that is a couple in a junior suite or a family taking over a villa.
A perfect day without leaving the resort
The best way to understand Las Ventanas is to give it one full day. Start with sunrise yoga, then a horseback ride along the beach while the sand is still cool. Take a long lunch at Sea Grill, where the seafood comes off wood-burning grills beside the ocean.
Spend the afternoon in one of the spa’s detached cabinas, with its own succulent garden and jetted tub, and finish with a tasting of 100 percent agave tequilas at the Tequila & Ceviche Bar as the light fades over the Sea of Cortez. Dinner is at Árbol under the lanterns, and the night ends at the bar of La Botica, where the cocktail is made for you after a conversation rather than chosen from a list.
Arrange it all through your butler a day ahead, and the only decision left is what to drink.
Who it suits, and what to know
- Best for: couples, milestone celebrations and families who want privacy with full resort service.
- Location: mid-Corridor, convenient for San José’s galleries and the farm restaurants of the foothills, and a manageable drive from Cabo San Lucas.
- When to book: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year and spring dates fill first, as do the largest villas. For the anniversary year ahead, expect demand to be stronger still.
- Seasonal programming: the resort runs festive programmes over the holidays and seasonal experiences at its restaurants, so ask what will be on during your dates.
The Cabo 100 take: Las Ventanas is not the liveliest resort on the Corridor and does not try to be. Its genius is restraint. Come for the quiet, let the butler do the planning and spend at least one evening without leaving the property.
Why it sets the standard
Many resorts in Los Cabos are beautiful. Las Ventanas earns its position because it meets every one of our four standards at once: consistent excellence over nearly 30 years, service built around the individual, a setting and craft culture that could only be Mexican, and a reputation that rests on the experience rather than the marketing.
It also shows how the list is meant to be read. A resort is more than its rooms: the bar where you end the night, the cellar where you celebrate and the spa where you recover all count. See the full ranking in our Stay category, or join the Insider List for new features as we publish them.
