Aman Spa at Amanvari
Six treatment rooms and two Hydro Houses, each with banya and hammam, plus a traditional temazcal.
Amanvari, the first Aman in Mexico, opened on the East Cape within the Costa Palmas community, where the desert meets three miles of swimmable Sea of Cortez shoreline. Its name combines the Sanskrit words for peace and water, and the resort is intimate in scale, with just 18 casitas set across a landscape of orchards, estuary and beach.
The Aman Spa is built around a theme of natural connection, inspired by the raw beauty of the East Cape. At around 7,000 square feet, it is modest in size by Los Cabos standards, but its facilities are unusually considered, and it brings Aman’s hallmark calm to a part of Baja that still feels remote.
Its place on this list comes from the combination of setting and ritual. The temazcal sits at the heart of the signature journeys, paired with botanical blends inspired by Baja’s regional healing plants.
What to expect
The spa has six private treatment rooms and two signature Hydro Houses, one with a hammam and one with a Russian-style banya. A contemporary temazcal sweat lodge anchors the ceremonial side of the menu, and a hydrotherapy area is set around a shallow reflecting pool.
The menu covers therapeutic massage, advanced facials, body polishes and wraps, lymphatic drainage, chakra balancing and practices drawn from ancestral Mexican healing. One signature ritual, Desert Damiana, opens with a rain-stick sound ceremony and cranial release before moving into warm herbal oils and hot stones.
A yoga pavilion, multifunctional studio and round-the-clock fitness centre support the movement side, with private training or yoga available on request. A beauty salon with a head spa completes the offer. Beyond the spa, the estate offers snorkelling, diving, sailing, hiking, horseback riding and golf.
