Seen from the ground, Los Cabos is a string of beaches, resorts and headlands. Seen from a helicopter, it becomes a single, dramatic piece of geography: desert mountains dropping to two different seas, the granite of Land’s End, and the arc of the Corridor linking the two towns. FlyCabo, a locally based helicopter and charter operator, is the most direct way to see it that way.

The company runs short scenic flights for a first look and longer charters for travelers who treat the aircraft as transport. A twenty-minute loop takes in San José del Cabo, the Pacific and the Arch; the forty-minute version adds the Cabo San Lucas marina, Land’s End and a longer run of coastline, and the operator recommends it for couples and families. Flights trace the beaches of Santa María, Chileno and El Médano and pass over the point where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific.

Beyond sightseeing, FlyCabo offers air-taxi transfers between the airport and resorts or private residences, airplane charters, and expedition flights farther afield: the Sierra, La Paz with Balandra and Espíritu Santo, the reef at Cabo Pulmo, and Magdalena Bay during gray whale season. Proposals, anniversaries and golf or yacht transfers round out the menu.

What to expect

The official departure point is the private-aviation FBO at Los Cabos International Airport, with pick-ups possible from hotels, private landing areas or the nearest official heliport. Each aircraft carries three adults and one child, or two adults and two children. Bookings are confirmed manually by the operations team, and the company asks guests to book directly, as it does not authorize resale through unofficial brokers.
