The Spa at Esperanza
Five-Star spa set into Esperanza's clifftop grounds above the Sea of Cortez.
Esperanza, an Auberge resort at Punta Ballena on the Cabo San Lucas end of the Tourist Corridor, keeps its spa a short walk from the main buildings, behind heavy wooden garden gates. Inside is a walled desert oasis of native plants, water features and a palapa roof, with Mexican artwork and warm, earthy textures throughout. Forbes Travel Guide rates it Five-Star for 2026.
Its treatments follow the Medicine Wheel, an ancestral symbol used here to frame balance across body, mind, emotion and spirit. That gives the menu a thoughtful structure without tipping into theatre, and the spa pairs it with Auberge’s wider wellbeing approach.
The reason it stands among the best is the privacy. Each of its 14 treatment rooms is designed as a garden suite with its own patio, shade and outdoor shower, and several have private soaking pools or space for couples.
What to expect
Every treatment includes the Pasaje de Agua, a 30-minute hydrotherapy passage inspired by the temazcal steam house: a warm soaking pool, steam caves and a cool waterfall rinse. Afterwards, guests can linger on the spa patio with freshly made aguas frescas.
The menu draws on fresh local produce such as aloe, avocado, papaya, mango and Baja lime. Highlights include a lime-compress massage designed for sun-tired skin, an avocado-based treatment for sun damage, four-hands massage and a couples massage in which the therapists swap partway through. Skincare centres on organic lines, including Marie Veronique. Treatments can also be taken in a seaside cabana or on a guest’s own terrace.
Movement is part of the offer, with sunrise yoga overlooking the Sea of Cortez, a busy weekly class schedule and personal strength sessions. Multi-day retreats, visiting masters and nutrition consultations are available for deeper stays.
