Chileno Bay Resort & Residences, part of the Auberge Collection, sits on Chileno Bay, with a private beach where guests can snorkel, paddleboard and kayak. Its spa, Sol, is a ten-room retreat set in a private garden near the check-in area: whitewashed walls, cacti, shaded wooden pergolas, a living wall and the steady sound of water. The approach blends old healing traditions with current practice, guided by Auberge’s wellbeing principles, and it is equally comfortable with a slow, restorative afternoon or a hard workout followed by an ice plunge.
What lifts it into this list is the Bath House and the open-air design. Treatment rooms are open to the air, and the hydrothermal circuit is treated as an experience in its own right rather than an afterthought.
What to expect
The Bath House combines hot and cold plunges, an aromatic steam room and pink Himalayan salt rooms. A 55-minute guided ritual moves through temperature changes and sound therapy and can be booked alone or before a treatment. Nearby, a nap garden and a pebble-floored reflexology pool invite unstructured rest, and a cold plunge on the resort’s private beach looks out over the Sea of Cortez.
Treatments include a jade gua sha massage with a locally made agave serum, a two-hour signature treatment combining laser therapy and lymphatic drainage, and customisable bodywork that lets guests combine techniques such as deep tissue, cupping, heated obsidian stones and rebozo. A local healer leads an immersive session blending energy work and bodywork.
The fitness centre has beach views, and more than 20 classes run each week, from yoga and Pilates to breathwork, dance cardio and sound baths. Private mindful movement sessions are also available.
