Picante Sportfishing has been running charters out of Cabo San Lucas since 1995, built on a passion for the sport and a record of tournament wins. Cabo calls itself the striped marlin capital of the world, and Picante has spent three decades fishing those waters with a fleet it owns outright.

Ownership matters here. Every boat in the fleet belongs to the company, which means consistent standards, crews who know their vessels and a single team accountable for the day. The captains meet each morning to decide where the fish are and stay in contact throughout the trip, sharing what they see.

It earns its place for that mix of local knowledge and responsible practice. Picante has supported catch-and-release of billfish for more than 30 years, and it can arrange a replica mount so anglers can keep a trophy without killing the fish.

What to expect

The fleet runs from 31 to 45 feet, led by the Caliente 45 and Picante 45 and including the Picante, Picante Pride, Picante Dream and Salsa, with smaller express boats for lighter groups. Striped, blue and black marlin are targeted year round, with dorado, yellowfin tuna and wahoo offshore and roosterfish, snapper, grouper and sierra closer to shore.

Crews fish well-known grounds including the Gordo Banks, Golden Gate Banks, Jaime Banks and Finger Bank. Beyond fishing, Picante handles corporate charters, groups and events and private sunset cruises, and it also operates a yacht sales and brokerage business. Its website publishes regular fishing reports and a seasonal calendar.
