Alma
An oceanfront bar pouring evening cocktails built on regional mezcal, tequila and sotol, with live music on weekends.
Esperanza, the Auberge resort on the cliffs of Punta Ballena, has long been known for its quiet elegance, and Alma is where that calm takes on an evening glow. Opened in 2024 on the resort’s main plaza, this open-air bar looks over a fire pit toward the Pacific, with waves breaking on the rocks below.
Alma leads a double life. By day it is a relaxed coffee bar pouring espresso drinks made with Mexican beans, alongside smoothies, teas, freshly baked pastries and savoury bites. As the light fades, it turns into a cocktail bar with a strong regional accent, built around mezcal, tequila and sotol and flavours drawn from Baja and the wider country. The launch menu showed the kitchen team’s playful side, with a martini made from vodka fat-washed with Cotija cheese and a smoky mezcal drink finished with seaweed.
It earns its place among the best bars in Los Cabos for that setting and that sense of ease. There is no velvet rope and no dress-up theatre, just a firelit terrace, a confident drinks list and one of the finest ocean outlooks on the Corridor.
What to expect
Arrive for the sunset and stay on as the fire is lit and the terrace fills. On Friday and Saturday nights live music adds energy without overwhelming conversation. Alma is a natural place to begin an evening before dinner at Cocina del Mar, Esperanza’s flagship restaurant, or to end one with a nightcap under the stars. In the morning, the same terrace makes an easy, scenic spot for coffee.
