Esperanza, Auberge Collection

Esperanza sits on the bluffs of Punta Ballena, between two secluded coves, and it has the dramatic clifftop setting that many guests picture when they imagine Los Cabos. Part of the Auberge Collection, it is a 2026 Forbes Five-Star hotel, holds two Michelin Keys, and was named a top-five resort in Western Mexico by Condé Nast Traveler readers.

Every casita and suite faces the ocean, and the accommodation climbs from these through oceanfront villas and casonas to four-bedroom haciendas of around 5,000 square feet. The atmosphere is intimate and residential rather than grand, with palm-fringed pools stepping down toward the water.

It manages to suit both couples and families. There is an adults-only pool and a strong spa, but also kids’ and teens’ clubs.

What to expect

The spa is one of the resort’s defining features, with treatments rooted in local traditions, a warm soaking pool, a steam cave with a cool waterfall rinse, a Watsu pool, a private couples’ suite and seaside cabana treatments. A fitness centre includes a movement studio.

Cocina del Mar, recently reimagined, serves al fresco dinners on a rocky promontory above the sea and is the resort’s signature table. La Palapa offers Mexican dishes and a swim-up bar, Las Estrellas is a relaxed, farm-to-table Mediterranean option, and ALMA moves from morning coffee to evening cocktails. Room service runs around the clock. Pools include a beachfront infinity pool and family pools, and the Tortuguitas kids’ club keeps younger guests busy.
