Iván Guaderrama Art Gallery
An artist-run gallery of vivid interactive paintings using sound and augmented reality, and a standout Art Walk stop.
Few galleries in Los Cabos are as instantly recognisable as Iván Guaderrama’s. Set on Calle Álvaro Obregón in the heart of the San José del Cabo Art District, it is the home of a Los Cabos-based artist whose bright, joyful paintings of angels, hearts and faith-inspired themes have become one of the signatures of the district.
What sets it apart is the way Guaderrama brings technology into the canvas. Some of his works respond to touch with sound, and his interactive pieces come alive through an app he developed for iOS and Android, using augmented reality. It is art you are encouraged to engage with. Beyond the canvas, Guaderrama and his studio also work in augmented reality, WebAR and AI, building apps, websites and interactive experiences for brands.
That blend of devotion, colour and invention is why it belongs on The Cabo 100. Nowhere else in town feels quite like it.
What to expect
Expect original paintings alongside limited editions, sculpture, jewellery and home decor. Recurring themes include angels, hearts, scripture and the cheerful portraits known as Smiling Jesus, as well as commissioned pet portraits. Download the app before you visit to see the interactive works move. Smaller pieces, such as printed magnets and limited editions, make easy gifts for those not ready for an original. On Thursday evenings in season the gallery stays open later for the Art Walk, when the street is at its liveliest; earlier in the day is better for a quieter look or to discuss a commission.
